Seal Unveils His ‘Kryptonite’: The Comfort Food He Can’t Resist
Seal has no regrets about his favorite foods.
“I don’t mind who’s watching. I love popcorn,” Seal, 62, reveals exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “I have a real weakness for popcorn. Honestly, it’s quite bad. It’s sort of my Achilles’ heel.”
He added, “I had popcorn for breakfast before heading to New York, and I was meant to be fasting, but that’s a longer story.”
The singer of “Kiss From a Rose” is a huge fan of food, even if he doesn’t often cook for himself.
“Well, I don’t cook too frequently, but I guess a dinner curry would be a highlight,” Seal states. “Being English, I can whip up a good curry. I enjoy a great curry [and] I can make a decent one myself.”
When Seal does cook for his kids — he has four children with ex-wife Heidi Klum — he doesn’t rely on specific cookbooks.
“I hardly ever do that. We have those in London, too,” he jokes with Us. “So, we follow hood rules, and in desperate times, it’s hood food. So, I’d probably make a grilled cheese sandwich.”
Considering his preference for uncomplicated meals, it’s no surprise he would opt for something simple as his “last meal on Earth.”
“Baked beans on toast,” Seal says about the British classic, emphasizing the significance of certain ingredients. “[A] proper cheese toast and, like, the most unhealthy bread you can imagine. Just put baked beans on top, and I’d be satisfied.”
To satisfy his thirst, Seal has recently developed a fondness for Mountain Dew’s Baja Blast. (You may remember, the musician portrayed his namesake aquatic character in a 2025 Super Bowl commercial for the soda brand that premiered earlier this month.)
“Well, it’s not as sugary as you’d expect,” he shares about the drink. “I appreciate its popularity, and it’s quite easy to enjoy [and] simple to drink. It’s fun, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
While Seal has many favorite dishes, there’s one item he’ll always avoid.
“I really, really disliked marzipan [as a child],” he remembers. “It’s that yellow substance under [the] icing of cakes, it’s terrible. It’s made from almonds. I never liked marzipan — and I still don’t, but something I didn’t like as a child that I now enjoy is Turkish Delight.”
