Tyler Baltierra from Teen Mom Discusses Parenting His Daughters and Supporting Catelynn
Teen Mom star Tyler Baltierra is showcasing his skills as the ultimate girl dad.
On Friday, April 11, Baltierra, 33, posted a time-lapse video on Instagram of him styling his daughter Novalee’s hair before school. He captioned it, “Novalee specifically requested that I play this song while getting all the girls ready for school this morning! 😂🤷♂️ #GirlDad #BlessedByDaughters.” Baltierra has three children with Catelynn Lowell: Nova, 10, Vaeda, 6, and Rya, 3.
In the comments, someone remarked, “Why doesn’t her mom get her ready? Ohh, she’s prob sleeping.” Baltierra promptly defended his wife and expressed his own role as a father.
“Yeah, she is sleeping because she deserves to rest after consistently prioritizing her children’s needs above her own every single day! I don’t see what the issue is?” he responded. “I am a parent to these girls too, and just because I’m a dad doesn’t mean I’m oblivious to how women are often expected to handle these things daily without any recognition, so why is it any different when men and fathers perform the same basic parental duties that ALL fathers should be doing?”
Baltierra also shared a screenshot of the conversation on his Instagram Story, stating, “Can we PLEASE stop this outdated rhetoric!? Dads are parents too!”
Lowell, 33, and Baltierra also have a daughter named Carly, 15, whom they placed for adoption in 2009. According to the former 16 and Pregnant stars, they haven’t had contact with Carly for the past two years.
“The last time I saw Carly was around two years ago,” Lowell shared exclusively with Us Weekly before the season premiere of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter in January. “It’s incredibly difficult. Ultimately, I just want whatever is best for her, whatever that may look like for Carly.”
The open adoption was fruitful for many years but gradually transformed into a closed adoption when Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, began taking steps toward making it a closed arrangement.
Earlier this month, Baltierra expressed his “disappointment” upon discovering that photos of Carly had been leaked online. “It’s genuinely heartbreaking and upsetting that people are still sharing pictures and now videos of Carly,” Baltierra wrote on his Instagram Story on April 5.
“The same individuals and pages that relentlessly attack me and Cate for simply discussing our adoption story publicly are now partaking in sharing her actual images and video publicly,” he added. “We haven’t shown her face in over 11 years because it was her parents’ wish, and now many are disregarding that completely without a second thought, which is truly devastating.”
