Victoria’s Secret Promises No Sleeked-Back Hair for Models at 2025 Show

It appears that voluminous hairstyles will make a comeback at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

The brand assured fans that sleek styles won’t grace the runway this year, following complaints about the prevalence of such styles at the 2024 show. “We solemnly swear,” the label declared over a clip of models being prepped, “To not slick back the hair.”

“*Slowly backs away from the hair gel*,” the official Victoria’s Secret account humorously captioned their Instagram post on Thursday, September 25. Fans quickly expressed their excitement in the comments.

“Yes!!! FINALLY! They heard us😍,” one user exclaimed, while another added, “WAR IS OVER.” A third chimed in, “Thank goodness. The bombshell blowouts are just too iconic to skip!” Even model Jasmine Tookes joined in, commenting with a laughing emoji, “😂.”

The message from Victoria’s Secret followed the appearance of models like Candice Swanepoel and Adriana Lima, who showcased sleek updos during the 2024 show.

Lima, 44, made a striking entrance in a black-and-white plaid ensemble featuring form-fitting leggings and long sleeves. She paired the outfit with a sparkling black bra and matching panties, adding even more drama with large butterfly wings.

The original Angel later changed into a little red dress for her second look.

While fans loved her outfit, they were not fans of her tight ponytail.

“I don’t know who’s responsible for this, but a slick back is NOT the hairstyle for lingerie,” one comment on X read in October 2024, after the show. Another person remarked, “We’re losing the recipe.”

Another user echoed the sentiment against the ponytails: “I’ve never seen anyone wear lingerie with a slick back hairstyle. You should have your hair down or at least with some volume—it’s all about looking alluring and fun,” the commenter noted, questioning “where” the blowouts went.

Another notable model sporting the debated style was Gigi Hadid, who opened the show in a bubblegum pink romper with a plunging neckline and high-cut legs. Hadid, 30, elevated her look with matching mechanical wings that unfurled as she walked.

For glam, she wore soft, glowing makeup, with her blonde hair parted to the side and gelled down, the ends curled.

Later during the show, she transitioned into a sheer red bodysuit, styled with a voluminous boa.

While some models opted out of blowouts, many still embraced the iconic look.

Take Irina Shayk, for instance, who sashayed down the catwalk with her brunette locks parted in the middle and twirled into voluminous curls. She paired the blowout with a sheer star-embellished bodysuit.

Barbara Palvin also left her long caramel hair down in loose curls that cascaded as she walked the runway.

This year, Lima is confirmed to return to the show alongside Alex Consani, Yumi Nu, Joan Smalls, Lily Aldridge, and Anok Yai. The event is scheduled for October 15 in Brooklyn.
