Why Stassi Schroeder’s House of Stassi Is Skipping the Reunion
Fans eager to watch Stassi Schroeder sort through her personal issues during a House of Stassi reunion will have to hold off, as the reality star has made it clear she’s not interested.
“I don’t want a reunion. No reunion,” Stassi, 38, stated on the Friday, July 31, episode of the “It Girl” podcast when posed with the question of whether Andy Cohen would host a reunion for the new Hulu series. “We will resolve things in season 2.”
Stassi has experienced her fair share of reunion specials during her time on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules. She quickly became a fan favorite when the series debuted in 2013 but was let go, alongside Kristen Doute, at the conclusion of season 8 in 2020 due to a racism scandal linked to their former co-star Faith Stowers.
Recently, Stassi made a brief return to reality television with a guest appearance on Vanderpump Villa. She also hosted the reunion for season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. While discussing her experience on “It Girl,” Stassi candidly compared her hosting abilities to those of her predecessor Nick Viall.
“All the girls would agree [that I did a better job]. You couldn’t even hear him. He was so low energy,” Stassi joked. “My publicists are probably cringing right now. You know [these quotes] are about to surface and Nick is going to write about it on his Substack — after he runs it through Chat[GPT].”
Now back in the spotlight, Stassi stars in her own Hulu show, House of Stassi, which premiered last month.
“Even when I began Vanderpump Rules, my intention was always to pursue something even bigger afterward,” Stassi told TV Insider in July. “While Vanderpump Rules was massive, we were often unaware of just how significant it was. I never believed it would be Vanderpump Rules or nothing. Everyone in Bravo circles typically aims for a spinoff. It was always about, ‘What can I create next?’”
In the show’s debut episode, Stassi expressed her genuine perspective on how Vanderpump Rules tended to favor the men over the women involved.
“I loved Vanderpump Rules, but it has also become something we’ll need to unpack with therapists for the rest of our lives,” Stassi confided to Katie Maloney. “The narrative often portrayed the girls as unstable while the guys were shielded.”
In a confessional moment, Stassi expanded on her “mixed feelings” regarding the show that launched her career.
“I’m grateful for it, as it has opened many doors for me. However, it also normalized a lot of negativity,” she reflected. “It rewarded a culture of darkness until it didn’t. Now, as I transition back to reality TV, I find myself questioning, ‘Am I being foolish?’”
Stassi added, “I have mixed feelings about reality TV; it’s all I’ve ever known. I love it, but it’s also left me traumatized. I can’t seem to stay away from it though. But I refused to let Vanderpump Rules define my legacy. I had to make this work.”
House of Stassi is currently streaming on Hulu.
