A Timeline of Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews Mahomes’ Relationship
The dynamic duo of Patrick and Brittany Mahomes from Kansas City started their love story as teens in a small town in East Texas.
Patrick has risen to fame as the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, leading his team to three Super Bowl victories, while Brittany is also accomplished in her own right.
Brittany Mahomes played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler before moving on to a professional career in Iceland. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler, she became a certified personal trainer and founded her own business.

Although Brittany has retired from professional soccer, she is now a co-owner of the Kansas City Current, a professional women’s soccer team, along with founders Angie Long and Chris Long. In January 2023, Patrick Mahomes became a co-owner of the National Women’s Soccer League team alongside his wife.
The Mahomes tied the knot in 2022 and are proud parents of three children: Sterling Skye, 3, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 2, and Golden Raye, who was born in January 2025.

They met in high school
Patrick and Brittany first began dating during their high school years at Whitehouse High School in Texas, as reported by the Kansas City Star.
Reflecting on their initial Christmas together in a 2020 interview with TODAY, Patrick recalled the nerves of being introduced to her family.
“I think at that point we had been dating for a couple months,” Patrick Mahomes shared at the time. “Just a normal teenage kid showing up at the family dinner type stuff and being nervous and everything.”
They attended prom together multiple times.
In a 2013 Instagram post, it was revealed that the couple coordinated Patrick’s bowtie to match Brittany’s corsage for prom.
They attended prom again in 2014, as indicated by another post from Patrick Mahomes.
The couple continued their relationship through college, despite attending different universities. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech University, while Brittany Mahomes pursued her studies at the University of Texas at Tyler.
In 2017, the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Patrick, and soon after, they began to establish their lives together in Kansas City, Missouri, alongside their two dogs, Steel and Silver, who have their own Instagram account.
Patrick Mahomes proposed in August 2020 after 8 years of dating
In February 2020, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback to win the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, becoming the second-youngest quarterback to secure a Super Bowl title.

Later that same year, he proposed to Brittany Mahomes at Arrowhead Stadium, an occasion he described as more nerve-wracking than playing in the Super Bowl.
“You don’t think it’s going to be nerve-wracking, especially when you’ve been with someone for so long, but before you get on that knee, your heart’s racing, I promise you that,” Patrick shared with 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City.
Brittany Mahomes later shared her perspective on social media, indicating that the proposal took place shortly after the Chiefs received their Super Bowl 54 rings.
“On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us. It’s always us, it’s always you & me, the words you looked into my eyes and said to me, will NEVER leave my mind! You made this day perfect, you took my entire breathe away,” she noted.
They announced they were expecting their first baby weeks later
Just weeks after the proposal, on September 29, 2020, Patrick and Brittany announced they were expecting their first child.
“Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding,” Brittany shared on Instagram at the time.
Their daughter, Sterling Skye Mahomes, was born on February 20, 2021.
They married in Hawaii in 2022
The couple exchanged vows in a stunning outdoor ceremony in Hawaii on March 13, 2022, sharing the joyous news through a joint Instagram post.
Brittany donned a breathtaking white gown with a cut-out bodice and flowing train, while Patrick chose a stylish light grey suit.
They welcomed a second child, a son, in 2022
In May 2022, the couple shared via Instagram that their family was expanding and that Sterling would soon be a big sister. In June, they revealed they were having a baby boy in an Instagram video.
Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III was born on November 28, 2022.
In December 2022, Brittany, now a mother of two, gave an update on Twitter.

During the 2023-2024 season, Brittany Mahomes was again a fixture at Chiefs games, this time accompanied by a new friend.
The NFL wife quickly became friends with pop star Taylor Swift, who is dating the Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce.
The two women enjoyed dinners together, celebrated touchdowns with coordinated handshakes, and shared lovely game day pictures on Instagram.
They have also been seen wearing matching accessories and coordinating outfits to support Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, who share a close friendship.

Brittany Mahomes was in Las Vegas cheering for her husband on February 11, 2024, as he led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl triumph over the San Francisco 49ers, with a score of 25-22.

This game marked a rematch between the Chiefs and the 49ers, who previously faced each other in the 2020 Super Bowl. The 2024 match entered overtime, making it a rare occurrence in Super Bowl history.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes welcomed their third child, a daughter, on January 12, 2025.
They announced their second daughter’s name as Golden Raye Mahomes in a joint Instagram post the following day.
Patrick noted during a press conference on February 4 that Golden would be present at the 2025 Super Bowl, marking her first-ever football game.
