Benny Blanco Explains Why Selena Gomez Was in Tears Days Before Her Wedding
Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez had quite an eventful wedding.
During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, February 26, Blanco revealed that Gomez was in tears after she misplaced her handwritten vows just days before their wedding.
“She was crying because she couldn’t find [them],” Blanco, 37, recounted to host Jimmy Kimmel, noting that the vows were “lost” for around four to five days.
Fortunately, Blanco came to the rescue by finding the vows just in time, he told Kimmel.
“I found them right before the wedding!” he exclaimed. “I didn’t look. I closed my eyes and handed them to her. I promise! I swear I didn’t look.”
The music producer humorously remarked that recovering the vows made him look like a hero in Gomez’s eyes, who is now 33.
“But how great is that? It made me look amazing,” Blanco laughed. “It was like the best thing I could have done. I’m about to marry her, and I find the vows?”
Gomez and Blanco wed in a glamorous ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, in late September 2025.
“Everyone was emotional, and there were tears all around,” a source told Us Weekly about the nuptials, adding that Gomez “bawled her eyes out” when Blanco shared his heartfelt vows. “The wedding was quite simple, not your typical extravagant celebrity affair.”
According to the insider, the couple “just wanted to dance and have fun” throughout the celebration. “You could feel so much love between them,” the source added.
The couple announced their engagement in late 2024 after dating for over a year.
“Forever begins now,” Gomez captioned a December 11, 2024, Instagram post showcasing her engagement ring.
Blanco celebrated the milestone by commenting, “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”
In February 2025, the couple expressed their affection for each other in an interview with Interview magazine for its Valentine’s Day edition.
“You know when you think you’ve met the right person, and you’re like, ‘Oh my God.’ But it feels so different,” Blanco shared. “The moment we started hanging out, I thought, ‘This is my wife.’ I told my mom, ‘This is the girl I’m going to marry.’”
Blanco elaborated that their contrasting personalities complement one another.
“It works so well because I bring her out, and she calms me down when necessary,” Blanco expressed. “She’s the first person I’ve been with where I’m like, ‘I could sit here with you for 72 hours and not miss a thing.’ She’s like my f**king heroin and Xanax combined.”
Gomez added that she was the first to develop feelings while spending time with Blanco.
“It was really straightforward. We got into the studio to work on a song and ended up just talking; that’s how easy it was for me. I liked him before he liked me,” she admitted.
