Katelynn Ordone Remembers Son ‘Okay Baby’ Ahead of First Mother’s Day Without Him
Influencer Katelynn Ordone is continuing to pay tribute to her son, Preston, who tragically passed away at the age of 2, alongside her husband, Jaelan Ordone.
“Yesterday marked two weeks since you left us, and I still can’t comprehend that you’re not here anymore. I feel like I’ve been stuck in a nightmare for two weeks that I can’t escape,” Katelynn expressed on Instagram on Saturday, May 10, just a day before her first Mother’s Day without him.
“Daddy, Paisley, and I miss you so much. Life isn’t the same without you,” she added. “I often find myself searching for you. I was so accustomed to keeping a close watch to keep you out of trouble. Now, I’m lost and don’t know how to cope. I’ve tried so hard to distract myself from the aching void of missing you, but nothing helps.”
Katelynn reminisced about the bedtime routines they shared, from getting Preston ready for a bath and preparing his “sippy cup with warm milk”—a treat they loved to warm up for him—to brushing his teeth and cuddling until he fell asleep.
“I shouldn’t be lying in bed, crying as I choose an urn for you. The pain of missing you is overwhelming,” she shared. “You brought joy to millions during your short time with us. Not a day went by without you making us laugh.”
“I struggle to understand why God would take you from me… but I’m choosing to trust Him with you. I’m thankful for every moment I had with you. It’s a decision I have to make every day, and it’s not an easy one because I’d rather have you here with me,” she continued. “But I know that being with God is the safest place for you, and I’ll be with you again one day.”
Katelynn shared touching photos of Preston over the years, including one from his first birthday celebration at a baseball field and another of Jaelan joyfully holding his son in the delivery room.
“Words will never fully express my heartache and how much I miss you, but one comforting thought is that this isn’t goodbye; it’s a see you later. I can’t wait to reunite with you, my baby boy,” she concluded.
Preston and the Ordone family gained attention online in 2024, affectionately known as the “Okay Baby.” In April, family friends announced the tragic news of his death in a single-vehicle car crash. Both parents were in the car during the accident and sustained injuries, while 7-year-old sister Paisley was at school at the time.
The Louisiana State Police addressed the incident on Facebook, stating they are investigating, which includes routine toxicology tests of the driver. Authorities reported that the driver and front-seat passenger were “properly restrained,” but Preston was “secured in the rear, though improperly restrained in his child safety seat.”
Grandfather Glen Norris contested the claims made by the Louisiana State Police, stating to Nola.com that he spoke to a witness who claimed the toddler was properly restrained. Later that month, Katelynn shared an emotional Instagram video announcing her discharge from the hospital while Jaelan remained hospitalized.
In May, Katelynn revealed that the family is honoring Preston with a floral memorial at Glory Church in Slidell, Louisiana. The setup includes an oversized pair of overalls adorned with moss and flowers, a collage of photos of Preston, and a book for friends and family to share messages with the family.
“You are warmly invited to come as you are, at any time, to pay your respects and place a flower in the overalls as a symbol of love, remembrance, and support,” Katelynn’s Instagram caption read. “Let us gather in remembrance to celebrate the light and love Preston brought into our lives. 💙.”
