Romy and Jake Reiner Unite to Clean the Beach Following Their Parents’ Passing

Romy and Jake Reiner welcomed the New Year by engaging in community service.

Romy, 28, and Jake, 34, the children of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, were seen cleaning up a beach in Malibu on Thursday, January 1, as reported in photos by TMZ. The siblings were accompanied by their friend Alex Siliberg as they picked up debris washed ashore.

This marks the second occasion Jake and Romy were spotted at the beach following their parents’ tragic passing. They were also seen out on Romy’s birthday, which was Tuesday, December 30.

Tragically, Rob and Michele were discovered deceased in their home in Brentwood, California, last month. The couple was aged 78 and 70, respectively.

Us Weekly later reported that their brother, Nick, was taken into custody and held without bail on suspicion of murder after Rob and Michele were found with “apparent stab wounds.” (Rob also had an adopted daughter, Tracy, 61, from his late first marriage to Penny Marshall.)

Nick, 32, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance. His arraignment is set for Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

In the wake of Nick’s arrest, Jake and Romy spoke out about their parents’ deaths.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” the siblings expressed in a statement. “They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The duo continued, “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but also from individuals across all walks of life. We now request respect and privacy, asking that speculation be tempered with compassion and humanity, and that our parents be remembered for the incredible lives they led and the love they shared.”

After Rob and Michele’s death, friends shared that they had received holiday cards from the couple.

“Today in the mail was a card from Michele and Rob Reiner!” Neda Soderqvist posted on Instagram on Monday, December 29. “Even from heaven, they continue to ensure everyone receives their bonuses, and what really touches my heart are the cards Michele wrote me. One amusing fact about her was that each time she sent me a bonus, she would have me promise to use it for myself and not give it away.”

Soderqvist added, “She knew me so well, but today Michele, I promise you I’ll keep $100, and the rest I’ll donate in your honor to a foundation I know you loved. Thank you for being my best friend, ride or die—someone who taught me self-worth and self-love. I will carry on your legacy forever and vow to support your children.”
