Why Rebecca Gayheart Is So Open About Her Mini Facelift
Rebecca Gayheart is known for her honesty, particularly regarding the cosmetic procedures she underwent this year.
During her appearance on the Monday, November 17 episode of Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen’s “Broad Ideas” podcast, Gayheart, 54, opened up about her facial procedures performed by Dr. Jason Diamond in Beverly Hills.
“I’m very transparent about it because we should be … why are we pretending we aren’t aging?” Gayheart remarked.
The Urban Legend actress shared her belief that it’s essential to “normalize” plastic surgery. “I’ve had a challenging few years, and I felt the effects of aging hit me hard at 52. I was like, ‘Wow, this isn’t good,’” she reflected.
“One of my eyes was sagging, and it appeared closed in pictures,” Gayheart explained. “One looked open, and one looked closed, and I couldn’t stand it. Dr. Diamond suggested I fix that, and added, ‘While you’re at it, you should do this, this, and this,’ and so I did,” she said.
She had the procedures done in July and mentioned she had at least two. “If they don’t do anything else, it’s just a neck lift,” she described while illustrating how the skin is tightened.
She admitted the recovery was quite intense since it was her first surgery. “I had never had any surgery before, so it was a bit intense for me. However, I will say that Jason is great; he won’t make anyone look unnatural,” Gayheart added.
Diamond is a specialist known for “having a gentle touch” and “aims for his clients to look like their best selves,” she continued. “He focuses exclusively on the face—no breasts, hips, or any of that. Just the face.”
The hardest part of the experience was discussing the surgery with her daughters, Georgia and Billie, whom she shares with Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane.
“Talking to my daughters about it was tricky,” she confessed. “I was honest without giving every detail. Since I was recovering at home, they noticed. I explained to them, ‘This could help me feel better about myself, and that’s okay.’ I reassured them that I wouldn’t do anything I thought was dangerous. My youngest gave me a hard time, but my oldest was more understanding. I think my youngest was just nervous.”
In the podcast episode, Gayheart also reflected on the challenges of the past few years. Dane, 53, announced his ALS diagnosis in April 2025, shortly after Gayheart retracted her divorce petition from 2018. Although they have been separated for eight years, their daughters reside with Gayheart full-time.
She noted that she teaches her daughters “the importance of showing up for people, even when it’s complicated. ‘He is our family, your father,’ I tell them. ‘We need to show up with dignity and grace and get through this together,’” Gayheart said.
“We’ve been separated for eight years. The kids live with me full-time. There’s been a lot to navigate, but I try to stay optimistic about it. I’m focused on learning from this and being a role model for them on how to handle difficult situations,” she concluded.
