Will Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff Join Stephen Amell’s Baywatch Series?
After landing the lead role in Fox’s Baywatch reboot, Stephen Amell opened up about the potential for cameos from original stars Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.
“Of course we could [have them],” Amell, 44, exclusively shared with Us Weekly at the Baywatch red carpet event on Wednesday, February 18, following an open casting call for prospective actors at the beach in Marina Del Rey, California.
He expressed his reasons for keeping details under wraps, saying, “I specifically told them not to tell me. I’ve learned that over time because I tend to have a lot of things overwhelming my mind.”
He added: “To avoid being completely overwhelmed, I prefer to be surprised when I see the script.”
Baywatch, which aired from 1989 until 2001, revolved around the lives of lifeguards navigating various challenges at California (and Hawaii) beaches, dealing with events such as earthquakes, shark attacks, and serial killers.
While the series experienced numerous cast changes over the years, some of its most memorable members include Anderson, Hasselhoff, Nicole Eggert, Carmen Electra, Billy Warlock, Alexandra Paul, David Chokachi, Jeremy Jackson, Traci Bingham, and Erika Eleniak.
In September 2025, Fox announced a “reimagined” version of the beloved series is on the way. While Baywatch fans eagerly await possible cameos from familiar faces, it has been confirmed that Chokachi will indeed make an appearance.
Amell was cast earlier this month as Hobie Buchannon, the son of the original series’ lead, Mitch, portrayed by Hasselhoff.
In the character description, Hobie is depicted as a man “taken by surprise when the daughter he never knew comes knocking on his door, disrupting his life as she seeks her place in the Buchannon family legacy and aspires to become a lifeguard.”
“We haven’t filmed anything yet, so I’m not entirely sure [what to expect],” Amell told Us. “This project has been in development for quite a while and really took off when [creator] Matt Nix came on board with his initial vision for the first season.”
Amell hinted at “many of the familiar tropes you expect from Baywatch,” adding, “However, the beginning of our story will primarily focus on family dynamics.”
After securing his role on the show, Amell expressed his excitement via Instagram, stating, “I fully recognize that Baywatch is iconic — and fundamentally, it’s about entertainment. It’s grand, fun, and unapologetically larger than life. Filming here in Los Angeles adds another layer of significance. These beaches aren’t merely a backdrop; they symbolize a city that has overcome so much and continues to thrive. If this new chapter can bring joy while quietly honoring first responders, families rebuilding, and everyone who has contributed to this city’s resilience, then that’s something I’m extremely proud to be involved with.”
Amell expanded on his thoughts during his discussion with Us in Marina Del Rey.
“Having lived in California for 16 years, I often say we don’t spend enough time at the beach,” he noted. “I’m thrilled to continue our California adventure.”
