Reasons Behind Megan Moroney’s Absence from the 2026 ACM Awards in Las Vegas
Megan Moroney had a compelling reason for her absence at the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.
“I’m incredibly honored to be nominated tonight at @ACMAwards & I’m cheering on all my friends from a distance!” Moroney, 28, shared via her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 17. “I’m currently out of the country on MOH [maid of honor] duty to help my best friend get married @Inatalieking.”
Rather than donning a glamorous gown fit for the red carpet, the country artist was seen in a cozy two-piece loungewear set as she geared up for the wedding of Natalie King, the inspiration behind her song “Wonder” from 2021.
“I love you all & can’t wait to see y’all in Columbus!” she mentioned, referring to her sold-out tour date on May 29. “Counting down the days.”
During the 2026 ACM Awards later that evening, host Shania Twain noted Moroney’s absence from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas during the glittering event.
At the same moment, Twain, 60, expressed her excitement for the “Tennessee Orange” singer, featuring her in a pre-recorded message.
“Country music unites people, fosters growth, and heals lives; hence, it is only fitting that ACM Lifting Lives supports crucial causes such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital,” Twain remarked. “Megan Maroney, one of country music’s brightest new stars, couldn’t be here tonight, but for a wonderful reason. She is serving as the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding. Nonetheless, Megan has sent us a heartfelt message about this vital cause.”
Shortly after, Moroney appeared, wearing a St. Jude Music Gives T-shirt, urging fans and viewers to lend their support.
“I wish I could be there tonight,” she said, while commending the St. Jude Children’s Hospital staff for their “life-changing and life-saving work.”
“Let’s unite to aid St. Jude in the battle against childhood cancer,” she added, displaying her T-shirt, available online. “Please get yours and match with me.”
At the awards event, Moroney led with nine nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Female Artist of the Year.
She will continue to celebrate her achievements on The Cloud 9 Tour, commencing May 29.
“Rehearsals are finished✅,” she posted on Instagram on May 12. “17 days until opening night! Which means you have 17 days to learn a new song! Swipe for a surprise ;).”
The 2026 ACM Awards can be streamed on Prime Video.
