Shannon Bream Discusses Faith in Mainstream Media on Fox News Sunday

Shannon Bream is thrilled to observe that Fox News Sunday is not the only program in the United States that is highlighting faith and religion.

“I noticed a trend, almost a movement, during Covid. Many people were scared, experiencing loss, pain, and uncertainty,” Bream, 55, shared exclusively with Us Weekly. “I found that during that time, people were far more receptive to faith.”

Prior to hosting Fox News Sunday, which marks 30 years on air this Sunday, April 26, Bream anchored her own late-night show and addressed serious issues like the pandemic.

“We frequently invited doctors and researchers on to help us comprehend what was occurring in real time,” she reminisced. “However, we also began featuring pastors and religious leaders to provide comfort and share verses or thoughts from their spiritual traditions.”

The countdown to Easter Sunday is underway, with many in Hollywood publicly celebrating their faith. Through social media, podcasts, TV shows, and films, numerous celebrities courageously share glimpses into their spiritual journeys with fans. For some religious leaders, this openness should be embraced with love […]

Bream believes that viewers were “extremely open” to new perspectives and “eager for something hopeful and reassuring.”

Though the pandemic is behind us, Bream feels the desire for faith and spirituality is only beginning—especially among younger individuals.

“On college campuses—we’ve covered this extensively, and I know other networks have too—thousands of students are showing up in search of hope,” she stated. “We’ve noticed an increase in this, and polling supports it as well. The younger generations appear to be the most interested and committed to faith and attending church. Everything goes in cycles, but right now, there seems to be a willingness to embrace it.”

Bream has been candid about her faith and recently published her new book, Nothing Is Impossible with God: Eleven Heroes. One God. Endless Lessons in Overcoming, last month.

Even with her commitments at Fox News every Sunday morning, Bream prioritizes attending church on Saturday evenings and dedicates time to daily worship.

As she navigates challenging news topics, including elections, conflicts, and warfare, Bream strives to maintain faith at the center of her life.

“My faith encourages me to treat others with respect and to recognize the divine image in everyone,” she clarified. “That’s a strong starting point for difficult discussions. If you can look across the aisle or the table and say, ‘I’m here to listen.’”

Bream added, “There’s always something to learn. My faith inspires me to respect others, whether I agree with their views or am strongly opposed to them.”

As Fox News Sunday celebrates three decades on the air, Bream is optimistic that viewers will continue to witness respectful dialogues with a diverse array of Americans, including politicians, educators, farmers, and even astronauts.

“I’ve never had a single guest assert, ‘I won’t return’ or ‘I didn’t feel that was a respectful conversation,’” she mentioned. “That’s my aim.”
